As I dive deeper into family photography, I’m seeing endless beauty in family photos at home.
Dave & I were both born & raised in South Dakota.
Think cornfields and cows, small towns every several miles, and yes – Mt. Rushmore, too – but we didn’t live on that side of the state. Every summer we aim to spend a couple weeks back there with family. And every summer our time there feels even more special.
The boys run through the sprinkler.
We spend hours in the boat.
Grilled food. Too many sweets.
Missed bedtimes and 9:30pm sunsets.
There’s just something so wonderful about summertime in the Midwest.
I’ve known Ryan since high school, and he and his beautiful wife Nichole have been longtime supporters of both our work and whatever crazy idea we’re currently chasing. You may remember this summer session with them from 4 years ago – one of my very first family sessions!
As always, it was the biggest honor to photograph all their red hair, sweet freckles, cartwheels, trampoline jumped, cuddles, giggles – and all their love.
