Tiya & Caroline’s Sapphire Point engagement was our first session of 2025 & the perfect start to what will be an amazing year spent with amazing couples.

You know we love a Sapphire Point engagement session. It’s one of our go-to locations for any winter sessions we have; it’s easy to access & the views are incredible! It’s a perfect option if you’re not up for snow-shoeing or post-holing through the snow on your favorite trail.
We’re forever grateful for the opportunity to photograph so many cool people & their love stories in beautiful spots locations like this. Caroline & Tiya – thank you for trusting us with yours!
Located north of Breckenridge and south of I-70, Sapphire Point is an extremely popular spot. It’s easily accessible & has incredible views of the 10 Mile Range and Lake Dillon – making it a location you definitely don’t want to plan your elopement or session at if your top priority is privacy. However, if you’re willing to visit on a weekday or when it’s a little chilly (I think the temperate was close to 0 degrees for Caroline & Tiya’s session!), you may get lucky and avoid the crowds.
2025 Sapphire Point note: per the Recreation.gov website, Sapphire Point’s official info & booking site, the entire overlook will be closed to all visitors & reservations from June 2nd, 2025 to June 20, 2025 for parking lot renovations & again from September 2025 through November 2025 for trail work & maintenance.
Grabbing from another Sapphire Point engagement post (see it here!), here’s a look at a few things to keep in mind.
Plan around sunset!
The sun will set behind the mountains across from the lake, giving you some incredible light and beautiful photos! Or, in Caroline & Tiya’s case – plan for whenever you want because it’s cloudy & sunset doesn’t matter. 🙂
Prepare for crowds.
Sapphire Point is a super popular spot – it will likely be fairly busy, both with tourists and with other sessions! That’s okay, just be prepared that you won’t have the place to yourselves. The good news? Your photographer (hey, it’s me!) can show you some great spots to sneak away from the crowds a bit. If you’re lucky, like we were with this beautiful session, it’ll be super quiet because the cold temps scared everyone away!
Respect the land.
As always, please be respectful of the area. Pay attention to any signage indicating current restoration efforts & blocked off areas. Take out anything you bring in, and please – FOR THE LOVE OF THE MOUNTAINS AND ALL WHO LOVE THEM – don’t litter the area with glitter or confetti or rose petals or anything else.
Have fun!
Most of all – have fun! Take in the beauty. The views here are really special.
