Some engagement sessions feel like a casual stroll or a high energy dance. Megan & Matt’s kinda felt like the overture to a full-blown Breckenridge mountaintop musical.
I don’t know if Megan intended to channel her inner Julie Andrews, but she did it. Her & Matt’s Breckenridge mountain engagement session felt a little Sound Of Music inspired & was just missing the orchestra. Too bad we didn’t bring our bluetooth speaker.
Let’s set the scene. Our favorite Colorado mountains towering in every direction, the wind catching just enough to send Megan’s dress flying, and Matt looking at her so sweetly, like she was the prettiest girl on the mountain (can confirm: she was).
Their energy made everything feel bigger than life, but still so perfectly them. It was so joyful & fun. I honestly had just the best time photographing these two.
We first met at a Montgomery Reservoir, just down from Hoosier Pass. From the moment we stepped onto that sun-kissed hillside, they leaned all the way into the whimsy. The light sparkled on the lake like glitter was dropped from the clouds. Megan brought along the cutest Bride sunglasses. They spent our time together spinning & dancing, enjoying a hot cocoa & cookie picnic, and soaking in the views & the vibes.
We split their mountain engagement session into two locations. We chased the golden evening light as it wrapped around the peaks, just like every photographer dreams of. In between the made-for-a-movie moments (which you know we love), some of my favorite shots were the quiet ones. You know – the in-between ones. Megan tucking into Matt during a break from laughing. Those moments right after “the shot.” It was romantic in such an effortless, un-stuffy way that you can really only get here in the mountains of Colorado.
By the time the sun dipped & the mountain light turned blue, we felt like we’d all stepped out of a little daydream. Don’t wake me up, please. 🙂
