Fairplay family photos on your very own property don’t get much better than this, especially when Princess the donkey steals the show. This session was so unique, and so beautifully them.
Fairplay is a small town, so, of course, we know the Hoerter fam! Two of Brad & Betsy’s kiddos go the same school as our boys & our oldest son is friends with their youngest son. When Betsy connected about family photos of their own this last fall, I was thrilled. When she mentioned doing them at their home with their animals & dirt bikes, I was all in!
This session with the Hoerter family was pure joy & chaos from start to finish. At one point we had:
two adults
five kids
four horses
two donkeys
and three dogs
and somehow we made it happen, haha.
The kids ran freely, animals wandered in and out, and I just did my very best to capture every second of it.
These are the kinds of Fairplay family photos we love most. We’re not a fancy, disconnected community here. We’re small-town, casual mountain folk. Real people who work hard & love deeply. For the people who choose this place to call home, this is exactly the kind of session you come to expect. Real life, kinda messy, and overflowing with connection. At-home (or at-ranch) sessions like this remind us that the true magic isn’t in everything being perfectly posed. It’s in embracing the glimmers in everyday life and the joy that comes with it.
